SOYVDA mooted and organised the famous Iftar program to feed the needy who were unable to afford a meal during the holy month of Ramadan. The program was able to feed 320 families on a daily basis. Our area of operation for the Iftar program was Al-Rabwa Primary School after the ex-control on Afgooye road which is near to Garasbaleey region.
The Iftar program begun on the 27th May 2017 to 24th June 2017. on the first day of Ramadan and we were able to successfully provide meals for 60 families from our small contributions mainly from our members. As the days continued we started receiving more families for the meals from 60 on the first day then 120 by the end of the week. Then SOYVDA got a major boast from the Somali community were we able to feed 320 families. This has continued until at the end of the Holly month of Ramadan where SOYVDA make it easier for 320 families have decent meals at that end of their fast during the month of Ramadan.
The main aim of the Iftar program was to provide Iftar meals for the less fortunate who were not able to afford. Eventually SOYVDA is aimed to tackle the illiteracy, poverty and the humanitarian crisis including droughts and disaster prevention and also develops community basic social Services to contribute National Development Goals.
