Imagine having no food or drink to break your Iftar, There is much reward in feeding the poor but feeding Iftar to the poor in Ramadan has even greater reward.

The Prophet has said:

“Whoever feeds a fasting person will have reward like that of the fasting person, without any reduction in his reward.” (Tirmidhi)

SOYVDA aspired to  organize the famous Iftar program for the second year running to feed the needy who were unable to afford a meal during the holy month of Ramadan.  The program was able to feed 400 families on a daily basis. Which is the highest number that SOYVDA ever feeded. Our area of operation for the Iftar program was the same area we did last year’s Iftar project.

The Iftar program begun on the 17th May 2018 to 14th June 2018. During the first day of Ramadan, we were able to successfully provide meals for 120 families from our small contributions. As the days continued we started receiving more families for the meals from 120 on the first day then 200 by the end of the week.

Then SOYVDA got a major boast from the Somali community and ACT association were we able to feed 400 families. This has continued until at the end of the Holly month of Ramadan where SOYVDA make it easier for 400 families have decent meals at that end of their fast during the month of Ramadan.

The main aim of the Iftar program was to provide Iftar meals for the less fortunate who were not able to afford. Eventually SOYVDA is aimed to tackle the illiteracy, poverty and the humanitarian crisis including droughts and disaster prevention and also develops community basic social Services to contribute National Development Goals
